Why did we name it Three Trees Bed and Breakfast?

Every place has a story. Ours began with a dream, a family, and a love for sharing the beauty of Kodiak with others.

When my husband and I moved into our home, I asked him if I could transform the lower level into a bed and breakfast. My parents own a luxury charter photography company, and I grew up helping with their tourism-based business. From an early age, I learned how special it can be to welcome people into a place you love and help them experience it in a meaningful way.

My husband agreed to take this journey with me, and for months, our family worked tirelessly on nights and weekends to bring the dream to life. Together, we transformed the lower level of our home into a warm, comfortable space where visitors could experience a little bit of the beauty, character, and hospitality that make Kodiak so special.

But the name Three Trees has a story of its own.

My husband spent time in Japan as an exchange student when he was young and later returned as an adult. He has always loved the culture, speaks Japanese, and has shared many of his experiences and appreciation for Japan with our family.

In Japanese, the character for tree is 木. When three of those characters are placed together, they form the character for forest: 森.

That simple idea became meaningful to us. Three trees together create something greater than any one tree alone, a Forest.

And that is how Three Trees Bed and Breakfast got its name.

Three Trees is named after my husband, the love of my life, my partner in this adventure, and the person who has supported me and helped make so many of my dreams come true.
